DOUA
Kindness begets kindness, that was what my grandmother taught me. As for myself, if you know me even remotely, you will know I’m all gung-ho about doing good and giving back to society. Mother’s Day is over , the prom is this weekend for my babysitter, what are you up to today or tomorrow..??
If you know me, you know I’m pretty easy to please and be happy. Now you can make me really happy by helping my blogging friend, Connie. This is for a good cause, please read the below and VOTE ..!! it only takes a few mins of your time.
Communicause is running a contest to give a non-profit a $25,000 Social Media Makeover. My favorite charity is the Disabled Online Users Association or DOUA(http://doua.org). They are in the running. Please help them win!
DOUA helps people with any type of disability work on the internet. This is the group that got me selling on eBay and gave me the confidence to work in blogging now. They are fantastic and offer support on their online training center, on the phone and in person if needed.
You can twitter this: PL RT: Help DOUA, non-profit for ppl w/ disabilities raise money for Social Media Makeover @communicause http://communicause.com #cause1431
Each tweet gets us a vote. You can also go the website and vote for Disabled Online Users Association.
Please let me know if you’re doing this and I’ll add you to my upcoming blog post about this. I’ll be writing updated posts quite often so feel free to vote. The contest ends July 31. I’m subscribed to this thread so I’ll see your posts.
Thanks so very much.
So if you love this blog you can help me help my blogging friend Connie, it will really make my day, and who knows.. maybe a birdie will tell you a secret.. eh..???
So if you can’t twitter then at least go vote eh
and leave a comment here, so that i can send the birdie to you. Please make sure your email addy is correct. I thank you in advance and don’t forget that Kindness begets kindness.

Hi MB,
I’ve already voted. Can you please send me the birdie? I’ve already send you an email on it.
Thanks.
Cheers,
Gladys
Hey Mama Bok! I just voted for DOUA again (I don’t know if you can vote more than once but I decided to try anyways.) I didn’t get an email from Connie the first time but hopefully I will get one from you soon. Thank you!!
Sure! no problem for helping others!
Just voted for DOUA. I saw the Ranking is 6…. hope they can jump up soon.
I have voted before, but I used another email address to vote again…ranking is still 6th…!
Voted.Good Luck
Is it only one vote per IP address? I tried to vote again from the same computer using different email addresses, it won’t let me geh? LOL.
I’m also a bit confused; when I voted with my Gmail address that I use for commenting here, it didn’t mention sending me a confirmation email…but just now I entered an old email address and it said it has sent a confirmation email? I can’t even access my old email address anymore.
I tried voting again with my email address and it said i already voted
but when I used my alternative email, it worked, so I don’t think it’s IP, it’s email addresses
Oh, that’s weird then, cos I had collected all my spare email addresses to vote, and for some of them it wouldn’t let me even though I had never used them before to vote!
Thanks bunessa for the info
Just voted…………..Good Luck
Hi MB!
I’m sure your DOUA friends are very happy for the help. You sure to get them a lot of votes – what a wonderful way to put your blog to use!
Let me answer some questions based on the past comments.
Votes are limited as once per person on email and once on Twitter. If we see a second Twitter vote, our system won’t count it. But there’s no harm in doing it a second time – maybe a follower didn’t see it the first time, and the second time they’ll ReTweet it and get more votes! Horrah!
Regarding confirmation emails, I apologize, but it can be a little tricky. What happens is that we try to check to make sure that the email address is working, and if we can’t confirm, we send the confirmation email.
I could be wrong, but I don’t THINK that there is any blocking by IP. If there was, then multiple people in the same office couldn’t vote, even if on different computers (often a whole office can be on the same IP).
If you are two legitimate people trying to vote from the same computer (like if granny asks you to help her vote – please keep it to one vote per real person to keep it fair) and you have a problem using two unique email addresses, you can try the second vote on another browser. For instance, do the first vote on Internet Explorer and the second on FireFox.
I hope this helps and thanks to all for participating. Please take a couple minutes of your day and tell someone else who would like to help. Doing something good might just be the pickup they need for the day!
Cheers,
Art
