Yes – tossing of the mackerel – that’s what we do best here apparently – all in the name of fun.  This town can use some – and as we see the Seafest ended like a few weeks ago – i cannot help but be amused at how Chloe didn’t like the smell of fish.  She said it churned her tummy so bad – she had to leave – poor kid!   But this is a fishing town and lobster fishing, clamming and scallops are all a big thing here and I haven’t been to one at all – so instead of doing my car insurance reviews that we need in order to get the best car insurance rates/benefit – I decided to come down to the waterfront with Chloe first.

When we were younger – my mom would only cook “ang kor lee” – seriously i don’t know what it is called in English – but i’ve always bought the “ang kor lee” when i cooked at home in Asia.  But now – i eat the salmon for that’s the only fish i’m familiar with.  I don’t eat fish and chips – i baked my own salmon – freshly bought from the local grocery store.  What about you?  have you had some mackerel of late?  i know that some Japanese friends of mine eat them everyday.

Jessy’s Pizza @ Main Street

Jessy’s Pizza opened its door not too long ago and already has a strong following.  I myself am not a pizza person but when you see the neighbors/customers coming in with Jessy’s Pizza while renting a movie – I had to ask them how different were their pizza as compared to other pizza places in town.  Apparently, the pizza sauce used in Jessy’s Pizza has spices on it and not just tomato ketchup that some Pizza places use (this is hearsay, so don’t quote me).

So a few weeks ago – PB went to get a piece from Jessy’s which is just a few doors away from us – next to the Zhu’s restaurant.   Our verdict?  if you want good and value for money pizza – especially if you are a growing kid – then you have to eat Jessy’s Pizza – the size was gigantic as you can see it.  PB being a big man himself can’t even finish it.  The taste?  pretty good – according to PB –  plus Jessy’s is nice, clean and bright  - very cheery – no foul smell and the service staff?  pretty awesome – i mean as far as i can see – they were cheerful and chatted up with me for a bit. Nice people – I do like it – so if you are around town  - check out Jessy’s.

PS :  I think the pizza cost PB like $2.85 + tax and if you wanna add a pop it’s another $0.50 – or something like that – pretty good value right?

Wings Crazy

wings

I have been on a chicken wing craze lately – been eating chicken wings almost daily with my meals.  They are so yummy !! i can’t resist it – we would make special trips just to catch them at Sobeys – and sometimes – they are sold out.  I’m guessing it’s because they are always sold out – that’s why I want them so much.

The wings are not cheap either – but they are definitely fleshy and meaty but as of today – i can’t be eating a lot of wings because my AIC has gone up – so i better behave myself – not that my doctor had a huge concern – but i pride myself for being able to identify a problem and fix it.  So there – from today onwards – my diet will be changed – i am gonna be healthy – by hook or crook.
