The nephew’s new year’s resolution is no more junk food – and he is also taking up  wrestling – so in order to help him with his resolution – PB and I decided we should buy some of his wrestling gear for him.  We got him a wrestling t-shirt – some knee pads and a pair of wrestling shoes. Now what kind of food can we get for a teenager – who wants to lose the weight and build muscles?  and not have junk food anymore?  No chocolates of course this Christmas but we found some edible nutrition for to be wrestlers. Yes ! there are food like granola bars for them – and quench bars and sports drinks.  So yes! all these goes into a hamper to encourage him to stop eating the junk food and motivate him with his wrestling.  We are sooooooooooooo NICEEEE  eh!

Yong Tau Fu Laksa

laksa

A month or so ago – we had gone to the city and loaded up on some Chinese food that we can find.  And guess what I found!  not LAKSA lah!  hahahha!! it was a packet of hot pot assortment – something like yong tau fu and you know what – I should have bought more – because they were so yummy! So i had some kind of a yong tau fu laksa about a week ago.

The next time I go up the city – I will get loads of this to bring home and that’s for sure.  When you are in a foreign country – you really have to make do with whatever you can get your hands on. I haven’t had yong tau fu for so long -  I tell yer!  that’s the main reason why I never lose my weight – or find it hard – because I eat a lot of vegies and yong tau fu back home.  I so missed the dry yong tau foo with the red sauce.

TV In Dining Room

tv1

How many of you eat in the tv room and no longer need your dining room like us?  even when PB, Chloe and I eat “together” on a Sunday – we still eat in the tv room.  Chloe on her picnic table an both of us – adults on the sofa with a plate of food.  Yes! i kid you not – we need a movie to go with our food – how terrible is that?  if my grandmother was alive – she would be wagging her fingers at us.

So a few months ago – I told PB i want proper sitting down in the dining room for our meals – and guess what Chloe said?  ” can we go look for some tv mounts so that we can put a tv in the dining room”  *slap forehead* – I don’t know to laugh or to be upset – you see how addicted we are to our TV and entertainment set.   So how many of you are like us – be honest now – how many of you don’t eat together in the dining room or kitchen?

Free Coffee @ McDonalds A Disaster

Posted by HoWeiSek | Amusing/Bizarre,Canadian,Fast Food,Food Review | Tuesday 7 December 2010 2:33 pm

free

A few weeks ago – McDonalds was offering free coffee for 2 weeks – all day long – you don’t even need to buy anything to get your free coffee.  I guess normally it would be ok – except that there were some people who would come into Mcdonalds and order as much as 2 dozen cups of coffee for the entire office *sigh*.   Yes!  what a disaster especially to those paying customer who needs their food fast and quick. I had tried to avoid McDonalds during the last few weeks because of it – but still managed to clash into it – the last day of the free coffee.  There were a lot of irate customers because of all the delay and inconsideration – plus I can see that the staff weren’t too happy about it either.  I can’t understand why would people go all the way out just for free coffee???!!!???  beyond me.  Time is money right?  so if there is going to be another free coffee situation anywheres – you won’t be see me – anywhere near it – that’s for sure.  What a disaster!

Food Pictures

food

I love to take pictures of food – as you all know and I love to post them up – but I also have a bad habit – I do my pictures on my computer – store all of them there – plus I love watching a movie on my computer and I have like games running in the background as well.  PB said – it’s a wonder my computer isn’t crashing – but I also reminded him that he had put in extra computer memory aka ram for me – when I first started on this new computer.   So with this the extra rams – my computer isn’t so sluggish any more.  So remember – storing your photos or movies onto your computer doesn’t really caused the computer to slow down – it’s the running of different programs and having a lot of windows opened at the same time that does.  But it’s easy to fix – and cheap too now – to add on extra memory for your computer.    No more sluggish computer for me – that’s for sure – else I would be banging my head on the desktop – hahahha!!

Steamed Shrimp & Pork Bun aka Xiao Long Bao

shanghai

And while we are on Frozen food – I might as well – tell you how greedy I was and ate these Xiao Long Bao the next day – hahahha!!  Can you blame me? when I can get these anytime at Ding Tai Fung – if i was at home?   The steaming part didn’t come out too well for this – it was stuck on the steamer – so the next time I’ll remember to spray some oil onto the steamer before putting in the xiao long bao.  But the skin was very, very thick – unlike the fresh and real stuff – nevertheless it was good but I’m glad I didn’t buy more than 1 packet of it.

Siew Mai Frozen Style

dim

I haven’t had siew mai for a long time now and since we didn’t make it up to the city in time for dim sum – I had to settle for frozen ones instead.  Still pretty good – after all something is better than nothing right? and once again i used my steamer and it turned out pretty good.

dim1

Before using my faithful steamer – the siew mai would come out all soggy – but now – it takes only 10 mins – and i don’t even need to defrost my siew mai.   And the ones i bought are already eaten up – but no worries – coz’ my girlfriend will be up in Halifax this weekend and she will get some for me – if she can find them.  woohoo!!!

Roast Beef Sandwich @ Arby’s

We were up in the city a few weeks ago – and when we are up there – you all know what happens right?  Yes !  I stuff my face with food – and eat whatever we cannot find in this town.  PB loves his roast beef sandwich from Arby’s – who doesn’t right?  look at the amount of sweet, soft tender roast beef and cheddar cheese.  We don’t go to Swiss Chalet that much as we do eat a lot of chicken at home – so Arby’s is one stop we never missed – after all – the man gotta get something good for himself too right.   Having said all the above – of course by going up the city – my diet is all messed up – so when I get back to town after 2 days of eating non-stop – I will check out nutrisystem review and start on a diet again.

My diet does not consist of not eating – but eating less  – and eating the right amount and right kind of food.   Indulging once in a while is ok – but one has to remember – you can’t continue to indulge 24/7  – 365 days a year.  So everything in moderation and a good diet plan would give you a good head start and a goal to lose weight.  I’m one for planning – so it’ all about planning and motivation.  What about you?  are you like me?  eat first, diet later?
