Gem Of Life Episode 23 & Kids Party Food @ Jungle Jim’s

Gem Of Life Episode 23 is ready to watch soon.. but I’m posting some kid’s party food up for you to enjoy soon.  As parents.. coordinating a birthday party can be really stressful.  My kid and I just attended a party at Jungle Jim’s this weekend.. and would like to share them with you .. and tell you the pros and cons of having the birthday at Jungle Jim’s. Stay tune.. i’ll be right back.

Jungle jim’s Jungle Cheesesteak loaded with fries.. that i couldn’t eat.  But I guess most Canadians would love the fries thing.. it is prolly not an asian thing.  I’m sure you all know I will never waste my calories.. if i can helped it.  So how was the cheesesteak..?? pretty good in fact. .the beef were soft.. and the bread or the french toast was just soaky enough.  The fries was so-so.. and the coleslaw had a funny taste to it.  But it was overall good.  I liked it.  At $11.99 + taxes .. its not actually that cheap.. but the service was great and I’ll have to specially mentioned this young man at Jungle Jim’s.

This young man.. i met him.. a few months ago.. after my operation. .and then i went out of commission.. because i needed to get rested.  I didn’t forget him.. and a few weeks ago.. i saw him again.  And again.. a few days ago.  Any food blogger would know that the wait staff plays a very important part in whether you would go back to a restaurant or not right..?  And this young man.. in another few years.. i know that he will be someone in the service industry.. if he chooses to continue because he has the right attitude.. and he certainly have the flair.  Efficient.. and friendly.. plus genuinely warm.  I cannot say a lot about other restaurant service staff.. but if this young man were to travel to asia.. and decide to join a hotel industry.. i know he will go far.  Plus the Asian gals would be swarming around him.  This picture was taken a few months ago, he looks a lot more fitter now.. and more confident this time round.

This was what my brat had for the birthday party held at Jungle Jim’s.. but as you can see .. my brat is weird, she refused to eat the curly fries. .because she insisted that they were onion rings.  And of course .. she didn’t eat the chicken nuggets either.  What a waste of good food right..? well .. i tried the nuggets.. and they didn’t taste like the ones we were used to.. so i guess .. maybe that’s the reason..??  Nevertheless.. the rest of the kids eat all their stuff.  But Jungle Jim’s should prolly go easy on the fries..?? no..??

This was what the man had .. while waiting for the kid to finish the birthday party.  This was rings and nuggets .. and it cost like $10.99.. pretty ex lor.. if you asked me.  3 pieces of nuggets and some fries.. but they were good.. so that’s all that matters right. Overall, we always enjoy Jungle Jim’s .. and recommend it.

Thanksgiving In USA

Thanksgiving in the United States and Canada.. are a month apart.  For us here in Cananda.. it isn’t such a big deal but for some folks in United States like my girlfriend, Lara.. it was so important that she flew back from Asia to US to celebrate Thanksgiving with her family.  Now that she is permanently in United States, I try my best to remember to send some personalized gifts to her and her wonderful family on this special day.

I remember the feast they use to have .. during Thanksgiving… and I told myself.. i can never cook this much food within a day or two.  They had so many people come by the house.. it was awesome.  Not only family but friends and neighbours too.

Waiting to watch Gem Of Life Episode 19 as well but i have to compare car insurance first while the man cooks for the kid’s lunch.  See i kid you not .. when i say the man can cook udon right..??  Yes.. he helps me to cut the chicken .. and marinate it.. and cut up the baby corn.. since the kid loves it.

Well..it’s only right that he helps .. while i do other stuff online right..?? it’s not often that i ask him to cook udon or chinese food.. but it’s not difficult if he wants to, doesn’t really take Martha Stewart to cook udon eh.

And yes.. he can handle his chopsticks .. as well as the babysitter.

Gone are the days, where they can take off in a minutes notice.. and head up to the city to look for Harley parts or a road show or even a nite out in the city.

When Easterly Showers Fall On The Sunny West Episode 11 & Sambal Scallops

Posted by crunchasaurus rex | Awesome, Chinese, Cooking, Food From Home | Sunday 9 November 2008 1:35 pm

Watching When Easterly Showers Fall On The Sunny West Episode 11 & eating this sambal scallops with noodles is the heavenliest thing any food blogger can do .. especially one that had been away from home for 8 yrs 9 months.  You cannot imagine.. how grateful i am to blogger friend turn into buddy .. Barbara from Chumsy Ashley for sending this packet of Sambal Tumis to me .. even before i went for my huge operation in June.  Good and real friends are so hard to find in real life.. moreover this one is around the other side of the world..  and doing it for me.. for nothing in return… and expecting nothing in return.  What a kind person right..??  Those who needs real friends .. must hop over to her blog.  Barbara is located in Malaysia, so if you are visiting Malaysia anytime soon, you should give Barbara a shout.

The scallops were on sale a few days ago, at the local grocery stores.  As you all know.. eating this amount of scallops in any restaurants or fast food places.. would probably cost one at least a small fortune.  But i bought these for less than $6 .. now that’s a steal right..?  The minute i saw it .. i knew i had to cook it with some Sambal Tumis that Barbara had sent me.. a few months ago.. and i had kept it like a precious pack of gem.

Glorious looking scallops eh.

Well.. the highlight of the dish isn’t the scallops.. truth be told.. but the sambal.. muhahah!!  imagine .. not having it for so long.  Ahhh..!! glorious moments.. that i told the spouse.. i have to take down.

Look at all those yummy looking sambal.. being mixed into those glorious looking scallops.  Yum.. !! yum..!!!  I was already salivating.. when i was cooking it.

Every last drop had to come out.. i wasn’t gonna waste any eh.

Lots of sambal in this small packet .. and really worth it.  The smell was already pretty strong by now.  And pretty simple to cook too.  I didn’t marinate the scallops or even roll them onto some flour as advice by some cook show… i just wanted to taste the scallop.

Here it is.. everything from the package is out.. and i am stirring it.  I first put some olive oil.. and then added some minced garlic.. put in the scallops after the garlic were stir fried for a few minutes.  when the scallops turned a little white.. i poured in the whole packet of sambal tumis sent by Barbara from Malaysia.. which can be kept for months.  And after a few more mins.. it’s all done.  No seasoning required.. nothing.

So yes.. the final moments.. and the taste..??  yummlicious of course..!! i couldn’t finish it of course.. and had to store it for the next day.  These days. .i can’t eat as much as i want to.  Thanks to Barb again..!! for the sambal tumis.. else i won’t be enjoying my Gems of Life Episode 16 & 17 too.
